105 minutes of exploring different mediums and building skills over time, with a little time for character-building! We don’t just have students come to ‘do a craft’ or ‘make projects’; we want them to truly learn real skills, build upon existing ones, and be able to go home and replicate what they’ve done. We discuss the hows and whys and often talk about the history, math, and science of our art. Our weekly creative arts classes give students the opportunity to realize, “I love this! I want to learn more and go deeper!” or “Hmmm…I’d be fine not doing that again.” And that’s fine either way! The exploration is the journey.
