About our program…

Everyone can create! We create our thoughts, our goals and our futures...we create and build our own lives. God’s entire nature is creativity and He loves it when we take something simple and create beauty.* Dan McCollam said, “Creativity is not a mood. Creativity is not a gift. It’s the very nature of God inside of you.” WE can make something out of nothing.

We love mentoring youth, especially in this fun and rewarding program! At minimum, we'll touch on four important themes: Creation, Industry, Service, and Self-Reliance…the big words for making things, working hard, doing kind things for others, and learning to support ourselves. So we will create with our hands, serve and gift to others, and discuss entrepreneurship! But for the bulk of the semester, we will be makers! The Creators' Workshop (formerly Works of Creation) is a program where youth are taught real artistic and useful skills and improve on or discover new interests. Hard work really pays off here and each class wraps up with a great feeling of satisfaction! We have a large repertoire of classes, so our weekly classes may include any of the following:

Baking  •  Bath + Body Products • Cake Decorating •  Candle Making • Candy Making • Clay Projects • Concrete Projects • Cooking • Cultural Art • Fiber Arts (needle felting, embroidery, string art, hand stitching) • Floral Design • Gift Wrapping • Hand Lettering • Jewelry Making (hand stamping, metal forming, beading, resin, etc.) • Leather Working • Lino Cutting/Stamp Carving • Metal Etching Pyrography/Wood Burning • Visual Art (watercolor, acrylics, drawing) • Wood Carving

You don’t have to feel talented in these areas to join us. You don’t even have to feel creative or love every class idea. You just have to be willing to create and become better. Dieter F. Uchtdorf said, “The desire to create is one of the deepest yearnings of the human soul. No matter our talents, education, backgrounds, or abilities, we each have an inherent wish to create something that did not exist before. Everyone can create.”

Creative Arts Classes For Kids in SLC

VALUES AND TEACHING PHILOSOPHY:

As our world becomes more secular, we find it important to incorporate belief and goodness into everyday activities. These are not religious classes, but we love this integration, so our weekly classes begin with a short focus on character and critical thinking through stories, logic, and life lessons. Please touch base with any questions...I’m happy to chat!

CREATIVITY

Because we’re made by a Creator, we create…with skill, curiosity, and a willingness to try.

We give students the tools, materials -and the courage- to bring ideas to life.

CHARACTER

Before we build with our hands, we build our hearts! Each class begins with life lessons and thoughtful conversation because who we’re becoming matters more than what we’re making.

CONFIDENCE

When students practice virtue, build on new and existing skills, and see their ideas take shape, they begin to believe in their abilities…not just in art, but in life.
